Job Opportunity: Learning & Admin Assistant

by | Jul 9, 2024 | News, Opportunities

The Scottish Jewish Heritage Centre (SJHC) is seeking a part-time Learning & Admin Assistant to join our small team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating school visits and in supporting our public tours programme.

The SJHC provides facilities to learn about Scotland’s Jewish heritage, including Judaism, the Holocaust-era and the historic migration of Jews to Scotland. The Centre is based in Glasgow city centre, in Scotland’s oldest purpose-built Synagogue – Garnethill Synagogue, a stunning Category A listed building, opened in 1879.

The SJHC’s school visit service has been steadily growing since our launch. For the academic year 2023-24 we were visited by 1,500 young people from local authority areas across in Scotland. For the academic year 2024-25, we are launching a new learning resource on Jewish migration to Scotland, aimed at secondary pupils. To find out more about what we offer on the school visit service: https://sjhc.org.uk/school-visit/

Visitors from around the world have enjoyed our volunteer-led public tours, which run weekly. With all of our activities, we are able to provide a better understanding of the experiences of minorities and so play a role in reducing racism and antisemitism in Scotland.
