Job Opportunity: Learning Assistant

by | Jun 26, 2025 | News, Opportunities

The Scottish Jewish Heritage Centre (SJHC) is seeking a part-time Learning Assistant to join our small team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating school visits and in supporting our public tours programme.

The SJHC provides facilities to learn about Scotland’s Jewish heritage, including Judaism, the Holocaust-era and the historic migration of Jews to Scotland. The Centre is based in Glasgow city centre, in Scotland’s oldest purpose-built Synagogue – Garnethill Synagogue, a stunning Category A listed building, opened in 1879.

The SJHC’s school visit service has been steadily growing since our launch, expanding in the scope of resources offered as well as the number of visits. For the academic year 2024-25 we were visited by over 1,500 young people from local authority areas across Scotland and the north of England.  To find out more about what we offer as part of the school visit service, visit https://sjhc.org.uk/school-visit/

The post holder will play a key role in delivering sessions to primary and secondary pupils as well as administering the weekly tour service, which is delivered by volunteer tour guides and which has been enjoyed by visitors from around the world.
